To open an account, you need to complete 5 simple steps.

Please note we will need to verify your identity before we can open your account. So before you start, please make sure you have the following information so that we can process your application as quickly as possible:

  • An Australian residential address
  • A landline or mobile phone number
  • Your Tax File Number or Exemption Code (providing these is optional)
  • The original of two identification documents, such as driver's licence, passport, utility bill that confirm your name, date of birth and residential address. Refer to the Identity Verification Form (below)
  • Copies of these identification documents that you will use to help us verify your identity

Note: When you apply for Internet Banking, we will also send you an advice notifying you of your Internet ID so that you can log in and use the Internet Banking service. Once you receive this letter, you will need to contact us on the number provided so that we can provide you with a temporary password and walk you through the Internet Banking activation process. Please note for security purposes, you will need the security codeword you nominated on your Internet Banking application form.

Step 3

Complete the forms using a black pen.

Please do not sign the Account Application form at this stage (refer to Step 5).

Step 4

Take your forms along with your identification documents (Identification documents need to be in your Full Name, any Identification documents with your initials will Not be accepted.) to your nearest Australia Post outlet so that your identity can be verified. To find the nearest participating outlet, please call 13 13 18 or go to auspost.com.au/pol and select Bank@Post.

If you visit an Australia Post outlet, your Identity Verification Form will be forwarded by Australia Post to Arab Bank Australia so that we can process your account application.

Step 5

Sign the application form in the presence of an Australia Post officer. Then take the photocopies of the identification documents provided to Australia Post and, together with the account application form, place in an envelope and post to:

What Next?

Once we receive your forms and subject to fulfilling the Bank's requirements, we will process your account application. You will receive a letter confirming your account details and you will be advised on how to make your initial payment.

Please note that sometimes we may require additional information other than the documents you have sent to us and we may not be able to progress your application or may need to place a stop on your account until you provide all required information.

Your account could take up to 7 days to open, depending on where you live and how long it takes us to get your documents.
